DAVID RICHARDSON Mr. Thornton, 54 , of Carthage, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center-Leake in Carthage. He was born in Starkville and lived in Gulfport for several years.  He moved to Leake County early in life where he made his home.  He had worked as an adjuster with State Farm Insurance for the past 19 years. Mr. Thornton attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Leake County. Survivors include his wife, Theresa R. Thornton of Carthage; mother, LaVerne S. Thornton of Gulfport; daughters, Kandace Thornton of Ridgeland and Brittaney Thornton of Ridgeland; step-son, Timmy Roach of Carthage; five step-grandchildren; brother, Mike Thornton (Susan) of Wiggins; nephew, Grady Thornton and father-in-law, James Rogers of Corinth. Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by his father, Max Wendell Thornton, Sr. and step-son, Jimmy Roach.
