He was a native and lifelong resident of the Preston community in Kemper County.  He attended Lynville United Methodist Church.  Survivors include his parents, Howard “Buddy” and Carolyn M. Carroll of Preston; sister, Suzanne Carroll Whitney (Sean) of Collinsville; brother, Randy Carroll of Tuscaloosa, AL; and nieces, Clare Whitney and Caitlin Whitney. Pallbearers were Tommy Gully, Grady Stokes, David Whittington, Roy Peden, Dan Nance and Hershel Barefield.
