BRYANT BARNESREV. THOMAS THURMANDR. DAN HOWARDMr. Al Brown served our nation faithfully in the United States Navy as a part of World War II aboard the USS New York. He was a graduate and lifelong supporter of Mississippi State University. He was employed by Orleans Furniture Plant in Columbia for more than 40 years, retiring as Plant Manager. He loved his family, fishing, hunting, and football, and he was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Alexander & Lessie Brown; one sister, Angie Moudy; and one brother, Henry Earl Brown, He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jelene Watkins Brown of Columbia; two sons, Terry Brown of Hattiesburg and Craig Brown of Philadelphia; one daughter, Debba Lynn Brown Betterton (Jerry) of Madison; two sisters, Sue Watkins of Carthage and Josie Swearingen (Larry) of Dekalb; one brother, Connor Brown of Ridgeland; six grandchildren, Jennifer McClendon, Paige Smith, Meredith Brown, Alison Weeks, Dr. Craig Brown Jr., and Dr. Ashley Bailey; and seven great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dr. Richard Craig Brown, Jr., Simon Bailey, Brice McLendon, Jerry Betterton and James Smith.
