CAUFIELD Beatrice Rhodes Smith, of Carthage, MS, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Diversicare Nursing Home.  She was born June 12, 1918, in Neshoba County, MS, Bea was married in 1933 to Rev. E. Binford Smith.  They served over a dozen United Methodist churches in central and south Mississippi, and had three sons, George, Roger and Ernie.  After Rev. Smith’s death she stayed in Carthage and worked for several years at Leake Memorial Hospital.  She prevailed despite the loss of two sons under tragic circumstances and the early loss of her husband.  Her strength will remain an inspiration.  Beatrice is survived by her son, Ernie (Carolyn Brown) of Royal Oak, MI; granddaughters, Catherine of Troy, MI, and Beth Moran Yutzy of Woolmarket, MS; great-granddaughter, Amana Ladner Knox of Denham Springs, LA; niece, Bobby Rhodes Boswell of Jackson, MS; and nephew, Marzell Livingston of Union, MS.  She was predeceased by her husband, Binford; two sons, George and Roger; brother, Garvis Rhodes; sister, Bernice Rhodes Livingston; and nephews, A. D. Rhodes, Charles Rhodes and Claud Livingston.
