Odell Jones, Sr.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 30, 201611:00 A.M. CLARKS CHAPEL CEMETERYDEKALB, MS Mr. Jones, 90, of DeKalb, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Mississippi Care Center in DeKalb. He was a native and longtime resident of Kemper County.  Mr. Jones served in the Ranger Division of the U. S. Army during the European Theatre of WWII.  He played minor league baseball for the New York Yankees minor team and later worked as a carpenter in the Kemper County area for many years. Survivors include his daughter, Darlene Stephens (Barry) of Milton, FL;  son, Thomas Odell “Tom” Jones, Jr., of Mobile, Al; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Hobby of Brandon; and a host of nieces and Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Winifred Jones; daughter, Diane Sims; sister, Faye Ogletree; and brother, Bill Jones.
