ERIC EMBREY Mr. Herman Sullivan, 91, of Philadelphia, died Friday, February 10, 2017, at Neshoba County Nursing Home. He was a native and longtime resident of the Fairview community in Neshoba County.  He worked for Yates and Perry Construction where he retired after many years at the age of 77.  He was ordained as a deacon at New Pleasantdale Baptist Church where he served until 1998, at which time he became a founder and charter member of Dixon Baptist Church, where he continued his service as deacon.  Mr. Sullivan was instrumental in the development of Fairview Volunteer Fire Department and was also a board member there for many years.  Herman excelled at many sports throughout his youth and into his adulthood.  His hobbies included playing cards, dominos, fishing, hunting, and in latter years, his goats.  Herman will be remembered as a man of integrity, honorable, hard working, and his devotion to his family and God. Survivors include his daughters, Glenda Townsend and her husband, Jimmy of Philadelphia, Terri Garnett and her husband, Charles of Blountstown, FL, Joan Johnson and her husband, Steve of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Kasey Byrd and her husband, Chris, Gretchen Dennis, Gus Johnson and his wife, Laurie, Ginger Stovall and her husband, Robbie, all of Philadelphia, and Toby Garnett and his wife, Tessa of Blountstown, FL; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Willis of Aurora, CO; brother-in-law, Dwight Griffin and his wife, Gail of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his devoted family from the past seven years at the Neshoba County Nursing Home. Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by  his wife, Peggie Griffin Sullivan; grandson, Tim Townsend; great-grandson, Hugh Lee Johnson; parents, Jim and May Sims Sullivan and a number of sisters and brothers.Pallbearers are Ricky Griffin, Josh Moore, Jonathan Townsend, Rein Townsend, Robbie Stovall, Chris Byrd and Gus Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are David Myers, Ted Myers and Dwight Griffin.
