She was a native of Neshoba County where she lived most of her life. Mrs. Barnes was a charter member of Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Barnes; son, and Prentiss Barnes; grandsons, Michael Edens, Timothy Schlegel, and little Prentiss Barnes. Survivors include daughters, Emma Jeane Schlegel and her husband, Thomas of Philadelphia, Brenda Edens of Noxapater, and Wanda Lovern and her husband, Harold of Philadelphia; son, Michael Barnes of Meridian; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; sisters, Eloise Tolbert of Collinsville and Shelby Jean Jackson of Carrollton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
