TUESDAY NOVEMBER 16, 2010 MCCLAIN-HAYS FUNERAL HOMEINTERMENT: CEDARLAWN CEMETERYOFFICIATING: REV. FRED BRITTON Robert "Bobby" Glynn posey was the sixth child of Marvin Alton and Sadie Bounds Posey. Bobby attended Philadelphia High School and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1954. His great love was football and he played in the 1953 & 1954 Sun Bowls in El Paso, Texas. He was inducted into the USM "M Club" Hall of Fame in 1987 and into the All-American Football Foundation Hall of Fame in 1998. Bobby gave his life to public service. He was commissioned in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1951, attained the rank of Colonel in theMississippi National Guard, and was a liaison recruiting officer for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. For over 20 years,he was an educator, coach, and mentor for numerous students who attended Philadelphia High and Neshoba Central High Schools. His 1964 Tornado team won the Mississippi Bowl, other teams won six conference championships, and he won over 150 games in his career. Among his athletes many played at the All-State, college, and professional levels. Bobby was the Chancery Clerk of Neshoba County for 12 years and after retirement, he was a Marshall who greeted golfers at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Course. Survivors include his wife, Bette Ford Posey of Philadelphia; his children - Robert "Bob" Glynn Posey, Jr. & Lisa, Summer Posey Hines & Allen, John Posey; Nick & Meredith Perry Massey, Jason & Ashley Perry; six grandchildren - Madi Posey, Abby Posey, Sadie Shields, Natalie Posey, Alli Grace Perry, and Robert "Trey" Glynn Posey III. Bobby was preceded in death by his sister Imojean Posey Herrington and four brothers - Thurmond "Bubba", Dee, Dr. Rudolph "Dosh", and Garvis "Sleepy" Posey.In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Philadelphia First United Methodist Church youth ministries or a charity of your choice.
