LARRY PATRICK Burney Ray Kirkland, 77, of Forest, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Jackson.   Mr. Kirkland was born August 13, 1933 in Kemper County.  He graduated from Cleveland High School, East Mississippi Community College, and Livingston University in Livingston, AL.  He served in the U.S. Army.  Mr. Kirkland was a lifetime member of the Mississippi High School Coaches Association and a member of the Mississippi Coaches Hall of Fame for Basketball.  He taught and coached at Bloomo, New Hope, Hickory Flat, Scott Central, Horn Lake, and Lake.   Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sarah Kirkland of Forest; daughter, Pauline "Polly" Kirkland of Forest; sisters, Loraine Jones and husband, Elvin of Philadelphia, Vester Brown of Philadelphia, and Ester Killen and husband, Paul of Union; brother, Ronnie J. Kirkland and wife, Appie of Preston; and a host of nieces and nephews.   Mr. Kirkland was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Maggie Kirkland; three sisters; and three brothers.
