Graveside service for Barbara Parker Nelson will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at 2:30 p.m. from Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery in the House Community with Rev. Rusty Walton and Rev. Lin Chesney officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Nelson, 71, of Union, died Sunday, August 23, 2020, at her home. A native of the Spring Creek Community in Neshoba County, she was a resident of the House Community for the past 52 years. She was a graduate of NCHS in 1966, and graduated from Mid-South Business School in Meridian. She began her career as the owner/operator of Wee Care Childcare Center in Union, and then as an assistant teacher at NCES for several years. She began working for the State of Mississippi in the Medicaid office in Philadelphia for several years until her retirement. Mrs. Nelson was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church of House. Survivors include husband of 52 years, Steve Nelson of Union; three daughters, Shea Nelson (Scott) Hodges of Brandon, Leslie Nelson (Jarrod) Taylor of Brandon, Lisa Nelson (Jonathan) Jones of Kosciusko; eight grandchildren, Nelson Ryan Hodges, Jon Parker Jones, Tyler Wade Hodges, Rhett Watkins Taylor, AnnaLeigh Grace Jones, Noah Wallis Taylor, Walker Davis Jones, Ethan Lee Taylor; mother, Nancy Elizabeth “Liz” Perry Parker of Philadelphia; sister, Nancy Lee Parker (Dale) Waters of Brandon; brother, George Clyde (Jan) Parker of Carthage; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her daughter, Christina Nelson; father, Joe Wheeler Parker; and stepfather, William Dub Perry. Pallbearers are Ryan Hodges, Tyler Hodges, Parker Jones, Walker Jones, Rhett Taylor, Noah Taylor, Ethan Taylor, Jack Reynolds, and Hanna Watson.
