Barry Clark

Memorial Service for Barry Clark will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 3 pm from McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Rev. Dwight Faulkenberry and Rev. Mark Cloys will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 1 pm until service time.

Barry Klein Clark, 60, passed away peacefully at his home in Philadelphia, Mississippi, on August 25, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. His life was marked by deep friendships, unwavering loyalty, abundant laughter and profound devotion to his family.

Barry was born December 3, 1965. He was raised in Union by his parents Chester and Lou Clark alongside his sister, Lori Porter Clark. He graduated from Union high school, where he and Melissa were voted Best School Spirit their senior year. He continued his education at Mississippi State University, graduating with a degree in business.

From there he explored a wide range of undertakings, guided by his entrepreneurial spirit. A few specifics come to mind - Deaton & Clark Distributors, Quality Cleaners, Floor Manager at Hallmark Toyota. He even flipped homes while building his rental portfolio before finally finding his footing in construction after building his wife a horse barn. His success was fueled by the old way of doing business, handshakes and giving someone your word.

Having been adopted, and curious about his genetics, Barry took a 23andMe test and discovered he was 99% Scandinavian. Suddenly it all made sense. At 6’6”, with his towering presence and Scandinavian DNA, he realized who he had been all along. Barry was a Viking. This newfound identity, combined with decades of business ventures, lead to the culmination of Viking Metal.

Barry was many things professionally- a businessman, a problem solver, a salesman but more than that he was a father, a “Big Bear”, and a loyal friend.

He had a remarkable gift for turning friends into family and pulling you into his world. His magnetic personality could make someone he had just met feel as though they had known him for years. Vibrant, assertive and larger than life - he was often the life of the party bringing energy, laughter and unmistakable joy to everything he did. Beneath his spirited personality was a deeply loyal and generous heart. He was the kind of man who stood in the gap for others- showing up, speaking up and always counted on when it mattered the most. His relationships were not casual; they were steadfast and protective. He had the rare ability to make people feel welcomed, valued and a part of his family. The lives of those fortunate enough to know him are forever better for having loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Chester and Lou Clark.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Melissa Clark, his sister, Lori Clark Porter, and his children, Garrett Clark (Tori), M.E. Myhre (David) and Peyton Clark (Olivia). His grandchildren are Hatcher, Maris, Briggs, Anna Klein, James, Flynn and Chet.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to The Refuge of Mississippi in Barry’s memory.
