Clarice Smith

Clarice McDonald Smith Williamson, age 90, died August 4, 2026 at her home in Philadelphia, MS. Services will be held at McClain Hays on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 1 pm, with Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at McClain Hays on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 10am until service time.

Mrs. Clarice Smith Williamson was born on October 29, 1935, in Preston, MS to the late Louis Percy and Clara Mae McDonald. She graduated high school from Prince Chapel in Kemper County. She graduated from East Mississippi Community College and went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in Education  from the University of West Alabama. She continued her education at Mississippi State University where she earned a Masters Degree in Education. She earned Scholastic Honors from all institutions. She taught in the Mississippi public school system for 39 and a half years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Philadelphia, MS where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and Kindergarten Board Member. Mrs. Clarice Smith Williamson was also involved in several civic organizations including Town and Country Garden Club, Philadelphia Woman’s Club, Clay Bluff Art Association, and Lydian Music Club. In addition, she volunteered with the local hospital Auxiliary. She also enjoyed time with friends in her bridge club!

Mrs. Clarice Smith Williamson was preceded in death by her first husband ,Wheeler E. Smith; her second husband, Shelby C. Williamson; sisters Glynn McKay and Dean Whitehead.

She is survived by her son Eddie Smith; grandsons, Ty Smith and Zack Smith all of Philadelphia, MS; sisters, Carolyn Carroll of Preston, MS and Beverly Jones (Bob) of Baton Rouge, LA and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Sean Whitney, Hunter Mitchell, Andy Hardy, Ben Hardy, Samuel McKay, and John Williams

Honorary Pallbearers are Don McKay and Randy Carroll.
