Funeral Services for Cleo Elaine McBroom Thompson will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 2 p.m. from Remus Baptist Church with Bro. Eddie Pilgrim and Bro. Mitch Hollis officiating. Burial will be held in the Thompson Family Cemetery in Edinburg, MS. Visitation will be held at Remus Baptist Church on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 12 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Cleo Thompson, 79, of Edinburg, MS passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
Cleo was born in Brooklyn, MS and moved to Philadelphia in her younger years. She graduated from Neshoba Central High School in 1965. She married Cooper Thompson of Edinburg on October 25, 1968 and lived the rest of her life in Edinburg with her husband. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Remus Baptist Church and she loved Jesus and anyone who knew her knew how much she loved him. She loved telling people about our Lord and Savior and loved talking about him and studying her Bible.
Survivors include her husband, Cooper Thompson; sons, Coby Thompson and Josh Thompson (Amy); daughter, Stacy Mullins (Bradley); grandchildren, Jonah Arthur, Felicity Spears, Alec Thompson, Avery Thompson and Hannah Prewitt; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Chloe, Jaxson, Melody, Aiden, Summer and Paxton; brother, Michael McBroom (Barbara Ann); best friend and honorary sister, Sandy McMillan.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her father, Ernest McBroom; mother, Georgan McBroom; brother, Clinton “Boom” McBroom.
Pallbearers: Josh Thompson, Joe Thompson, Jamie Thompson, Austin Byrd, Stewart Hoy and Darrin Pickett.
Honorary Pallbearers: Bradley Mullins, Jonathan McMurry and Austin Swinney.
