With heavy hearts we are sad to share that Clyde Andrew Duncan “Pop” went to be with the Lord on September 15th, 2026 at his home in Philadelphia, MS. We know that God has a perfect plan and was ready to call him home. Family will hold a Memorial Service from Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Sunday, December 20, 2026, time will be determined at a later date.
Clyde was born March 23rd, 1946 in Meridian, MS. He played baseball for Meridian high school, attended Meridian Community College, the University of Southern Mississippi., and the Education and Research Center, an extension of Jackson State University, in Jackson, MS. Clyde lived most of his adult life in Jackson, MS where he worked for the Addie McBryde Rehabilitation Center for the Blind at UMCC. He lived the last 25 years on his family land in Philadelphia, MS and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Tucker.
Clyde was preceded in death by his father David Henry Duncan Jr, his mother Eva Bell Duncan, his infant sister Kathleen Duncan, and two infant brothers (unnamed).
He is survived by his only son David Andrew Duncan “Drew” (Keila), his four grandchildren Dylan Jett Duncan (15), Della Hartley Duncan (12), Jax Jeremiah Duncan (1), and Olivia Rose Duncan (3 months) all of Madison, MS, 1st cousin Van Anthony Duncan Jr of Brandon, MS (Mary Jane), who was like a brother to him, and many other cousins, family, and friends.
Clyde was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa in 1978, which caused him to slowly lose his eyesight. He battled blindness, illness, and physical challenges over half of his life and beat many odds making it to his 80th birthday this year, and he was able to meet and hold his newest grandchild Olivia within the last 2 months. He maintained independence despite his physical challenges, and his mind remained sharp throughout his life. In his younger years, Clyde loved to hunt, fish, jog, and play golf. He loved being outdoors and really enjoyed marsh fishing in Louisiana. He enjoyed attending Drew ‘s sporting events and participating however needed by cooking burgers at the concession stand, raking the infield dirt, and making logos for the football helmets. Pop loved us so much and sacrificed his whole life so he could provide for those he loved most. He pinched pennies, rarely bought himself new things, and did without luxuries while at the same time splurging for others. He was generous to others in need, and learned to give without expecting anything in return. Pop was a joker and had a unique vocabulary and used phrases we often had to ask for clarity to understand. He never lost his sense of humor, and he laughed a lot. He had a big smile! Pop had many family, friends, neighbors, nurses, and acquaintances that helped care for him, take him to doctor appointments, get him groceries, cut his grass, fix his AC, and countless other ways of serving him, and we are forever grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for loving on Clyde so much.
We would love to hear about all the good memories anyone has of him and see any photos you may have.
We love you so much Pop!!! You blessed our family beyond measure. We miss you so much, but we know you are in paradise now, you can see again, you have no pain anymore, and we long to be there with you when God calls us home. Praise God
