Funeral Services for Cooper Yates Thompson will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 2 p.m. from White Oak Baptist Church in Edinburg, MS with Bro. Eddie Pilgrim and Tim Robertson officiating. Burial will be held in the Thompson Family Cemetery in Edinburg, MS. Visitation will be held at White Oak Baptist Church on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 12 noon until service time at 2 p.m. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 Cooper Thompson, 79, of Edinburg, MS passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2026. The fourth of eight children born to Curtis and Ava Thompson, Cooper lived his entire life in Edinburg, MS. He attended Edinburg High School. On October 25, 1968, he married Cleo Thompson of Philadelphia. Cooper made his living in the logging industry, working alongside his two brothers in the family business, Thompson Brothers Logging. He loved cruising timber, spending time in the woods, and fishing. He was a member of Remus Baptist Church.

 Survivors include sons, Coby Thompson and Josh Thompson (Amy); daughter, Stacy Mullins (Bradley); grandchildren, Jonah Arthur, Felicity Spears, Alec Thompson, Avery Thompson and Hannah Prewitt; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Chloe, Jaxson, Melody, Aiden, Summer and Paxton; brother, Stanley Thompson (Dianne); and sisters Trish Thompson, Donna Rawson (Jerry), Connie Pieters (Bob), and Janie Dent.

 Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Thompson; father, Curtis Thompson; mother, Ava McBroom; brother, Ted Thompson; and sister, Neta Heath.

 Pallbearers: Coby Thompson, Josh Thompson, Alec Thompson, Joe Thompson, Jamie Thompson, Dwight McMurry.

 Honorary Pallbearers: Bob Pieters, Jonah Arthur, Bradley Mullins and Jonathan McMurry.
