Philadelphia, MS

Dean Barrett, a beloved lifelong resident of Neshoba County, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and family. Born and raised in the area, Dean graduated from Bloomo School. Her life was forever changed when she married the love of her life, Bobbie "Buntyn" Barrett, as World War II began. She accompanied him during his basic training in Ft. Sill, OK, before returning to Philadelphia while he served overseas in the Philippines. After the war, they joyfully reunited and began their family in Philadelphia.

Dean cherished her role as a homemaker, where she excelled as an expert seamstress and cook. Her talent extended to making beautiful ceramics and tending to her lush garden, where she had a remarkable green thumb. A devoted grandmother, Dean loved spending time with her grandchildren whenever she could.

A dedicated member of Center Hill Baptist Church, Dean was proud to be its oldest member. She is survived by her two daughters, Frances Sciple and Jennie Barrett; grandchildren Laura Creekmore and Marcy Roberts Wright (Clint); and great-grandchildren including Corey Byars, Ari Creekmore, Ethan Wilkinson (Chloe), Colton Cumberland-Hunt, Caleb Creekmore, Alyssa Craig (Jason), Hunter Cumberland, and Anna Wright Luke (Tanner). She also leaves behind great-great-grandchildren Belle Byars, Madelyn Wilkinson, Ainsleigh Craig, and Kellan Luke, along with a host of special nieces and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by her husband Bobbie "Buntyn" Barrett, grandchildren DJ Creekmore and Jayson Roberts, son-in-law Ralph Sciple, grandson-in-law Allan Roberts, her parents Henry and Annie Spears, sisters Nancy, Bonnie Jean, and Christine, and brothers Odell, Clea, and Argle.

Her kindness and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
