Memorial Service for Jim Kilgore will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bro. Scott Boatner officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until service time.
Jimmy Frank “Jim” Kilgore, 65, of Philadelphia, Mississippi, passed away on September 20, 2026. He was born January 5, 1961, to Leland and Mary Sigrest Kilgore.
Jim attended Philadelphia High School, where he played football, and later attended East Central Community College before continuing his education at Mississippi State University. A second-generation car man, he eventually followed his passion into the automotive business, where he built a career doing what he loved. Jim remained an avid football fan throughout his life and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool, throwing darts, playing cards, and sharing a good laugh.
Those who knew Jim will remember his humor, his larger-than-life personality, and his generous heart. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help someone in need. Above all, he treasured his family, and the people closest to him will remember the love and laughter they shared. Jim had given his life to Jesus Christ. Though he was quiet about his faith, his belief in the Lord was sincere and remained close to his heart.
Jim is lovingly remembered by his longtime fiancée, April Ayers, who faithfully cared for him through his final day; his son, TJ Kilgore; TJ’s wife, Kaylie Kilgore; his grandson, Wylder James Kilgore; his daughters, Vikki Kilgore and Ann Marie Kilgore; his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Ellen Kilgore; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland Kilgore and Mary Sigrest Kilgore; his brother, Randy Kilgore; and his sisters, Beth Anderson, Nora Burton, Patsy Stewart, and Debra Kilgore.
“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” — Matthew 7:20
Jim will be deeply missed. The fruit of his life can be seen in the many people he helped, encouraged, and welcomed along the way; in the friendships he formed; in the laughter he shared; and most of all, in the family he loved so dearly. His memory will live on in the lives he touched. The kindness, generosity, and love he gave to others will continue to bear fruit for years to come.
