Funeral Services for Kaye Rowell will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 12:00 Noon from First Baptist Church in Philadelphia, MS. with Dr. Evan Humphries officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm in the MS Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton County, MS. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 9:30 am until service time at First Baptist Church.

Family has requested in lieu of flowers all memorials be made to Open Arms Inc. 239 Railroad Avenue Philadelphia, MS. 39350

Kaye Rowell, 72, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 3:41am on August 10th, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Chris; her brother, Donald (Mary) Tutor; her three sons, Robert Douglas (Amber), Nickalus (Brittany), and Nathan; and her three grandchildren, Gabriel, Dylan, and Andie.

She was born on February 20th, 1954 in Bruce, Mississippi, where she grew up with her brother and parents, Henry and Eva Tutor. She attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College and Mississippi State University, where she met Chris, her loving husband of 50 years. They had three boys, and after a brief stint teaching, Chris joined the Navy. Their family embarked on a journey that moved them to many places (Pensacola, Whidbey Island, Yuma, Memphis, Virginia Beach, Waldorf, Orange Park, Springfield, Memphis, and finally, Philadelphia). Kaye called Philadelphia home for 26 years. She was an active member of the church and follower of Jesus Christ. She played a vital role in Open Arms, a non-profit that feeds the community and provides healing. Living in Philadelphia, she worked for the Community Development Partnership until retirement. She spent several years on the board of the Neshoba County Fair and loved hosting family and friends at her cabin.

She loved a good tomato, tea cakes, and helping wherever and however she could.

To write the names of the friends she made along the way would take all the ink in the state of MS. Anyone who met Kaye, loved her.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the University of Mississippi Medical Center for their efforts to keep her with us. We cherish every second of the time we had.

Pallbearers will be Daryle Byrd, Keith Page, Gabe Rowell, Kevin Rowell, Tim Rowell, and Chris Tutor.
