Martha F. Bennett

Sep 8, 1930 — Sep 3, 2026

Philadelphia

Martha Flo Cash Bennett, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior September 3rd, 2026 with Patti at her bedside. She is survived by her daughter, Patti (Ken) Robey; her grandchildren, Heather (Mark) Ballard and Patrick (Ginger) Robey; great-grandchildren, Dustin (deceased), Evan, Farrah, and Reagan Ballard, and Walker and Cora Robey.

She was born September 8th, 1930 in Thayer, Missouri, where she grew up with her seven siblings and her parents, Millard and Clara Cash. She married Vernon Eugene Bennett, her loving husband of 48 years.

She taught elementary school at Bloomfield, Missouri many years and played the piano and organ at churches wherever her long life led, Bloomfield, Taylorsville, Mississippi, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Philadelphia, Mississippi. In Philadelphia, she lived at The Willows and played for choir practice there. She was a Methodist, but would play for any church that asked her.

A storyteller at heart, she wrote two books, Home by Suppertime and Where Golden Apples Grow, which were tales of her growing up in the Missouri Ozarks and of travels she made with her husband, family and friends. Martha loved traveling; following St. Louis Cardinals baseball, having a good BLT, drinking coffee with friends, and talking about family. She could tell you all the delightful stories of the family, back many generations. And for years she was known for her delicious homemade bread. People wanted to get on her “bread list”. Her favorite subject was history and as a young boy her great-grandson Evan quipped, “Well, that makes sense since she has lived through most of it!” (He thought she was ancient at 80!)

The family would like to express their appreciation to the people of The Willows and Quality Hospice who helped keep Martha comfortable.

Friends are welcome to gift the music ministry of First Baptist Church, Philadelphia, the Neshoba County Baptist Association, or charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Martha’s Life will be held, come and go, from 1 – 4 p.m., .Sunday, September 13., at Ken and Patti Robey’s home, 541 Poplar Avenue in Philadelphia.
