Gertrude Herrington

Funeral Services for Mary Gertrude Herrington will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, Philadelphia, MS, with Dr. Mike Carr, Bro. Justin Craft and Bro. Joel Embrey officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McClain Hays Chapel and on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. McClain Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Herrington, 90, of Philadelphia, died Monday, September 8, 2025 at her home. She was born and reared in Neshoba County and had made her home in Philadelphia since 1968. She was a beloved wife, mother and “Maw Maw Gertie” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her survivors include a daughter, Susan Rawls (David) of the House Community and a son, Gene Herrington (Donna), of the Bond Community. Her grandchildren include Charity Baysinger (Jason), Stephanie Bishop, Leah Bishop, Nathan Herrington (Hailey) and Eric Bishop (Grace). Her great-granddaughters include Katie Baysinger, Hailey Baysinger and Hannah Herrington.

She is also survived by two brothers, Glen Ellingburg of Meridian and David Ellinburg (Betty) of Edinburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Herrington was preceded in death by her husband, George Herrington; her parents, Luther and Pearlie Ellingburg; her sisters, Catherine Adkins, Lena Pearl Davis, Marie Pilgram, and Louise Cumberland; and her brothers, Leslie Ellingburg, Charles Ellingburg, and John Ellingburg

Mrs. Herrington was a founding member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she served as Church Secretary and spent many years in the infant and children’s departments. All of her spare time was focused on her family and her church.

Mrs. Herrington was passionate about providing excellent and compassionate care in the healthcare setting as demonstrated be the lifetime of care that she provided to her patients as a CNA.

Pallbearers are Jason Baysinger, Nathan Herrington, Eric Bishop, Rocky Levoy, Colton Warren, Ricky Cumberland, Richie Creekmore, and Bo Chamblee.
