Funeral Services for Mattie "Jane" Myers will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 1:00 pm from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bro. Dennis Duvall and Bro. James Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 11:00 am until service time at McClain-Hays.

Ms. Mattie Jane Myers, age 91, of Philadelphia, Mississippi passed away on June 13, 2026. She leaves behind a family who loves her deeply and a community made richer by her kindness, generosity, and remarkable work ethic.

Born August 6, 1934, Ms. Jane attended Longino School and was Baptist by faith. She married Edward A Myers on December 23, 1950 and together they built a beautiful life in the Spring Creek community. A self-taught maker, she enjoyed growing and creating all sorts of things throughout her life. She spent her days raising cattle and chickens, tending a large garden, and caring for others. She was a talented quilter, an excellent cook, and loved creating beautiful hand-embroidered pieces she often gifted to others. Through simple acts of generosity and genuine concern for others, she made her corner of the world a kinder, warmer place. She never missed an opportunity to brighten someone's day, whether leaving pecans and a thank-you note for the mail carrier or running outside with a jar of homemade fig preserves for the meter reader.

From tending her garden, casting a fishing line, sewing a quilt, to sharing her beloved “Cookie Man” stories on the porch, Jane found the greatest joy in life's simple pleasures and beauty in everyday moments. She considered her grandchildren among life’s greatest blessings, and devoted countless hours to teaching them how to sew, cook, garden, and so much more. Through these everyday experiences, she passed along the lessons she valued most: work hard, take pride in what you do, be resourceful, and always make time to help others. She taught them that a dollar was earned, not given, and that the best things in life are often created with your own two hands.

She showed her family that the richest life is one filled with love, laughter, nature, and time spent together. Her memory will forever live on in the gardens planted, the quilts sewn, the stories told, the recipes shared, and the simple traditions she lovingly passed down through the years.

Ms. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A Myers, parents, W.H. Jenkins and Mildred Daniels Jenkins; sisters, Joan Brooks and Betty Fortune; and brother, Billy Jenkins.

She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Thompson (Jimmy) and Renee Anthony (John); son, Tony Myers (Darlene); sisters, Shelby Barnes, Sherry Hazelwood, and Linda Boswell; brother, Ralph Jenkins; nine grandchildren, Chad Feasel, Jamie Feasel, Heather Nelson, Josh McDonald, Adam Myers, Sheena White, Skyler Myers, Dekota Cheatham, and Slade Anthony; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pall-bearers are her grandsons, Chad Feasel, Jamie Feasel, Josh McDonald, Adam Myers, Skyler Myers, Slade Anthony, and Ben Robinson. Her nephews will serve as honorary pall-bearers.
