Funeral Services for Odie “Bud” Spears, Jr. will be held Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 3 p.m. from Linwood Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Knight and Rev. Mike Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 1 p.m. until service time at Linwood Church. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Spears, 93, of Neshoba County passed away on February 5, 2026.
Mr. Odie was born and raised in Neshoba County and attended Linwood School and later East Central Junior College. He joined the U.S. Army and served two years. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years and also had time to farm full time. He was considered a workaholic by many. Mr. Spears was a longtime member of Linwood Baptist Church. He dearly loved his family and will be surely missed by all.
Survivors include daughter, Emily Allen (Kenny) of Collinsville; son, Alan Spears (Dana) of Union; grandchildren, Jacob, Samantha and Samuel Spears, Remington and Ivey Rickles, Cooper and Cambree Allen; three bonus grandchildren, Kendal, Kendan and Kent Allen; sisters, Carolyn Chunn and Helen Guthrie; brother, Jackie Spears; several nieces, nephews, friends and their families.
Mr. Spears is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ruth Porter Spears; parents, Odie J. Spears, Sr. and Loka Pearl Warren Spears; sisters, Kate Houston and Frances Rainer.
Pallbearers: Samuel Spears, Jacob Spears, Remington Rickles, Mike Chunn, Wesley Spears and Kendan Allen.
