Shirley Webb Cox, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 13, 2025. Shirley was born on November 7, 1939, to the late Bailey Kipps Webb and Docia Ray Webb, and was welcomed by her older sister, Frances, and brother, Kipps. She attended Linwood High School, where she was Valedictorian and manager of the basketball team, and organized the Linwood Reunion for many years. She was a beauty at East Central Community College, but one of her greatest honors was being chosen as Miss Neshoba County in 1957.

Shirley was married to Tom Wallace Cox and enjoyed being a mom to Tommy, Terri, and Carla. She worked side by side with Tom at Cox Engineering for 49 years. She was always involved in all of their children’s activities, never missing anything they did. One of her greatest rewards was being a MeMe to her eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She tried to be at all of their activities as well.

Shirley loved to cook, play bridge, and attend the Neshoba County Fair, but most of all she cherished her First Methodist Church family, her Adult Fellowship class members, and her many wonderful friends. She cooked three meals a day for most of her life and loved nothing more than having her entire extended family together in their home on Golf Course Drive.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and her infant son, James Bailey, as well as her sister- and brother-in-law, Katherine and Charles Tingle.

She is survived by her children Tommy (LeeAnne) Cox, Terri (Tommy) McCarver, and Carla (Ike) Martin; her grandchildren Kayla McCarver (Stephen) Bryant, Marshall (Gina) Cox, Meagan Martin (Brent) Anthony, Allison McCarver (Ben) Long, John Bailey (Allie) Cox, Macy Martin (Tanner) Rhodes, Bailey McCarver (Austin) Anderson, and Isaac (Maggie) Martin; her ten great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, George Herman Cumberland; her sisters-in-law, Anne Webb and Carol Webb; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family wishes to express their gratitude to those who loved her throughout her life and those who cared for her during her recent illness, including her sitters, Home Instead, Quality Hospice Care, and the many friends and family who visited her faithfully.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Cox, John Bailey Cox, Stephen Bryant, Tanner Rhodes, Ben Long, Austin Anderson, Brent Anthony, and Isaac Martin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ern Black, Mickey Cumberland, Tim Brantley, Duane Webb, and Ken Webb.
