Susan Dees Rosamond was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi on March 12, 1949. The daughter of Melvin and Jennie Dees, she graduated from Philadelphia High School before attending Mississippi State University. Susan was a member of Chi Omega and graduated with a BS in Education and a Minor in Business. Upon graduation, Susan moved to Jackson where she met Bill, her husband of over 52 years. Susan and Bill were married on October 5, 1973. The couple then moved to Philadelphia, where they owned and operated Dees, a ladies specialty clothing store, for over 40 years. Dees was established by Susan’s father, Melvin, in 1956. Susan spent many hours of her growing up years in Dees, where she developed a passion for fashion merchandising. Susan took great pride in her work and the friendships that she developed with customers, co-workers, and sales representatives. If the store was open, she could be found at Dees. Susan always made a point to park her car in the same spot near the front door of the store, so that her customers would know that she was working. Susan described each day to her family with joy and positivity. She would talk about each person that came in to shop and what they bought. Susan was also the buyer for Dees. She was extremely talented at finding new clothing lines and selecting merchandise. She enjoyed buying trips to Dallas and New York. Susan continued to work in retail in downtown Philadelphia into her seventies.

While a successful businesswoman, Susan’s heart belonged to the Lord and her family. Susan was a longtime member of First Methodist Church in Philadelphia, where she attended faithfully and served on committees. One of her favorite hymns was “Something Beautiful”. Susan believed prayer will change that – or prayer will change you, because God said so! John 14:13, 14 and 16:24. Susan was a loving wife and adoring mother and grandmother. Susan greatly enjoyed following her grandsons’ interests, including football, basketball, baseball, and theatre. Susan attended every event possible to cheer on her grandsons. Susan was an excellent dancer. She loved spending time with friends, following Ole Miss sports, and the Neshoba County Fair.

Susan went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2026. Susan will be remembered by those she encountered as a very kind person who had a heart for serving others. We will miss Susan dearly, but celebrate the countless good times had and the many ways that she has enriched our lives.

We are so thankful that the Lord has healed Susan and given her a new body which is perfect to praise Him.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Neshoba County Nursing Home and Quality Hospice Care for the care provided to Susan.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, Bill; son, Bill; and grandsons, Jack and Alex.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Jennie Dees; sister, Peggy; her paternal grandparents, William Henry Dees, Sr. and Gertrude Dees; and her maternal grandparents, Jefferson Davis Harpole and Mattie Lynn Harpole.
