Services will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Mack Alford officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12 noon until time of service. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Sue Powell, devoted wife and loving mother, moved on to the next step in existence on Saturday the 25th of February in the Year of Our Lord 2023. Sue grew up in the Johnsonville community of Neshoba County and graduated from Neshoba Central High School in 1963. After high school she moved to Jackson where she met her beloved husband, Henry, and began her 40-year career at Southern Farm Bureau. She was an amazing mother, who always put her children first, and taught us to always look for the good in people. Survivors include daughter, Karen Rosamond (Todd) of Jackson; son, Jeff Powell of Brandon; grandchildren, Harlee Freshour (Caleb)and Nick Powell; great-granddaughter, Kaymbrie Freshour; brothers, Jim Johnson (Dot) and Billy Johnson (Diane), both of Philadelphia; sisters, Bettie Cook (Mike) of Philadelphia and Sandra Warren (Joe) of DeKalb; and a loving host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by husband, Henry Powell; daughter, Gina Powell; parents, Arnold and Gertrude Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Mary Ann Johnson.
