Our History

McClain-Hays Funeral Service began in 1937 when Jack McClain, Willard Hays, and Jethro Holland joined together to establish a funeral home rooted in dignity, professionalism, and service to the community. Over the decades, this foundation was strengthened under the direction of Charles A. McClain, Sr. and longtime partner Barney M. Nowell, who continued to uphold the values and standards set by the founders.

Today, the funeral home is led by Charles A. “Chuck” McClain, Jr., grandson of founder Jack McClain, ensuring that the family’s commitment to compassionate care remains strong. For more than 85 years, families have trusted McClain-Hays Funeral Service to honor their loved ones with respect, understanding, and personalized attention.
